What can I do if my device or account has been hacked?
If you have any evidence that your device (computer, smartphone, tablet etc.) or online account has been hacked (or otherwise accessed without your consent), this will mostly be a criminal matter, so you should report it to the Police(external link).
It could also raise issues under the Privacy Act if someone had hacked your computer or smartphone, and was using this to collect your information. However, we would only be able to consider a complaint(external link) from you if you are able to give us evidence showing what exactly has been collected and by whom. We also wouldn’t investigate the complaint while Police were considering it.
