Can an employer get my ACC information without my consent?
In general, this can only happen with your consent. ACC has an established process where employers can request a job candidate’s injury history. ACC requires the job candidate to sign a consent form before it will process the request.
Additionally, when ACC provides the information to the prospective employer, it will exclude particular injury types - unless the job candidate gives specific permission.
More information on how ACC can and cannot share your health information can be found on their website under 'sharing your information' and 'working with your employer(external link).'
