The Office of the Privacy Commissioner is Aotearoa New Zealand’s independent privacy regulator, protecting the taonga that is personal information. We identify and address systemic and population-scale privacy issues, increase good privacy practice, and champion the privacy rights of all New Zealanders.

The role - Ko te tūranga

This is a generalist HR role where you will work closely with the head of HR supporting line managers with day-to-day HR activities across the whole employee life cycle, as well as taking on projects which advance our people and culture strategy.

OPC is a small organisation of 50 people, your ability to build high trust relationships with line managers is key to success in the role. You will also need good organisational skills, a focus on organisational outcomes, and solid foundational knowledge of HR good practice.

You will be supported in your professional development with plenty of opportunities to be involved and take responsibility.

The role is permanent part-time, 15 - 20 hours a week, with flexibility in terms of hours and days of work.

Pay is in the range $75,000 - $90,000 FTE.

What you bring - Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu

  • A relevant tertiary qualification.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in an HR role.
  • Generalist HR experience is preferred but if you are currently working in a specific discipline such as recruitment or HSW you should still consider applying as coaching and mentoring will be provided.
  • Great writing skills.
  • Awareness and respect of Te Ao Māori and other cultural issues, and the willingness to reflect these sensitively in your HR practice.
