The Office of the Privacy Commissioner (OPC) is New Zealand’s independent privacy regulator. We identify and address systemic and population-scale privacy issues, increase good privacy practice, and champion the privacy rights of all New Zealanders.

The Privacy Act applies to almost every person, business, and organisation in New Zealand.  Our purpose is to ensure privacy is a core focus for agencies in order to protect the privacy of individuals, enable agencies to achieve their own objectives, and safeguard a free and democratic society.  We advocate and advise on matters relating to privacy, examine new legislation and initiatives for impacts on privacy, undertake independent inquiries into privacy issues, investigate and conciliate complaints about alleged breaches of privacy, and have a compliance and enforcement function.

The role - Ko te tūranga

  • Take ownership of day-to-day ICT support, resolving technical issues and ensuring reliable, secure ICT services across the organisation.
  • Work closely with third-party providers to manage issues through to resolution and ensure services are delivered to expected standards.
  • Lead or support ICT projects and initiatives, including planning, coordination, implementation, and follow-through.
  • Proactively identify and act on risks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement, and take action to address them.
  • Support staff to effectively use technology through training, guidance, and practical support.

Indicative base pay range is $85,000 - 115,000, actual pay will be based on experience and expertise.

This role is suited to someone who is already operating at a senior level and is comfortable working independently in a small team environment.

What you bring - Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu

  • 5+ years of experience in an ICT support or technical role, and a relevant qualification (preferred)
  • Proven ability to work independently and take ownership of technical issues and outcomes
  • Experience with cloud platforms, collaboration tools, content and records management systems, and endpoint management
  • Strong understanding of ICT infrastructure, security, privacy and compliance
  • Ability to prioritise work, manage competing demands and meet deadlines
  • Strong communication skills, able to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including external providers
  • Strong documentation skills, including user guides and technical documentation
